With this in mind, if you’re new to Cheshire, or have been a resident for quite some time, you may be interested to know what you can do for fun or recreation. And did you know that there are lot of things to do for free here in Cheshire? That’s right, there is much you can do here that doesn’t cost and arm and a leg… So stick with us as we point a few things out for you to do here – For FREE!

1. The Walls of Chester

Is walking your thing? Even if you’re not too keen on it, a walk around the historic chester walls is certainly worth a visit. The walls are certainly a huge attraction for tourists, which is absolutely steeped in historical significance. And the best part about this is that its free! So if you’re in and around the area, leave the car at home and enjoy this amazing walk!

2. Chester Cathedral

The cathedral is one of the most popular tourist attractions to the region.

Chester Cathedral has a wide appeal to many different people – its not only a community of worship but also an ancient abbey, an archaeological delight, a hub of culture, a centre for music and truly a fine mix of medieval and modern history.

The Cathedral is free to enter and is a popular attraction for many people far and wide.

3. Blakemere Village

Blakemere is located in the picturesque Cheshire countryside, and provides a really innovative and tranquil shopping experience.

Its free to park and free to enter. There is something here for everyone. Not only is the place a prime shopping location, but there is always something happening in terms of fun activities for kids.

Made within a historic setting, the shopping complex has much to offer, and provides a comprehensive shopping experience.

The shopping park is situated at the junction of the A49 and A556 in Sandiway, near Northwich.

4. West Cheshire Museums

The West Cheshire Museums are a collection of local museums that each offers something unique to your cultural experience. And there is something different for everyone to enjoy.

5. Walton Hall and Gardens

Whilst you can certainly enjoy the gardens here for free, there are activities available that at a small cost you can engage in.

This was once owned by the famous brewers the Greenall family.

The Hall was also the focal point of a BBC production entitled ‘Our Zoo’ – where a section of the amazing grounds was the setting for a penguin enclosure and aviary.

The children’s zoo opens daily at 10.30am and closes at 5pm in the summer and 4pm in the winter. Entry is free of charge – There maybe some events on which may incur a small charge, but Entry of course is free.

There is a cafe located in the heritage yard which serves a wide range of food and drinks, including a children’s menu.
